Football is the most exciting and challenging sport. And with said it becomes even more challenging and breathe taking when we see a team making a comeback after lagging behind. There are many matches in the history of football in which certain teams made a great comeback. And got their name up in the history.

1. Liverpool 3-3 AC Milan – 2005 Champions League

In 2005 Liverpool played against Milan in champion's league. In the first half, Milan took a lead of three goals and was on cloud nine. But they had no idea about what Liverpool is gonna do in the next half. In the second half, Liverpool mounted an incredible comeback by scoring three goals in the time span of nine minutes and turn the game in their favour. After that Liverpool went to penalties and won the game.
The audience presents there in the ground witnessed the most memorable comeback in the Champions League. 

2. Deportivo La Coruna 4-0 AC Milan – 2004 Champions League

In the Quarterfinals of Champions League 2004 after having lost 4-1 against AC Milan at San Siro, chances of qualification for La Coruña were next to impossible, as Milan has the finest players of all the time. But in the second leg in Spain, Deportivo breaks Milan and takes a lead of 3-0 at the break. Carlos Valerón and Alberto Luque were the scorers for La Coruna, and Fran Gonzalez scored the fourth and last goal, and Deportivo Won the game.

3. Real Madrid 4-0 Borussia Monchengladbach – 1985 UEFA

In 1985 UEFA cup's third round Real Madrid made an excellent comeback. After winning the first leg by 5-1 in Germany Monchengladbach was in a dreamland.

But Jorge Valdano and Carlos Santillana set the next match on fire, and Real Madrid scored 2-0 in the final ten minutes of the game. The Spaniards set their way and went to retaining the trophy.

In the champion’s league of 2012 after the defeat of 3-1 against Napoli in Italy Chelsea were near the elimination. After sacking Vilas-Boas, Chelsea appointed Roberto Di Matte and little did they knew, in the second leg they mounted a super comeback. Chelsea went through 5-4 on aggregate in the extra time.

6. Fulham 4-1 Juventus – 2010 UEFA

Manchester United scored three goals and made an incredible comeback in Italy against Juventus to progress to final of Champions League. Juventus took the goal advantage by drawing 1-1 at Old Trafford, but as it was known to the world the year 1999 was a year of Manchester United. United made a great comeback and won the match 4-3. Also they went further and won both the FA Cup and Champions League.

7. FC Bayern Munchen 6-1 FC Porto – 2015 Champions League

In 2010 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, the first half of the match was not in good state for Fulham. But in the second half the energies of Fulham simply knocked out of that of Wolfsburg and Hamburg and more importantly conceded four goals as Hodgson’s heroes went to a win of 5-4 on aggregate.

8. Partizan Belgrade 4-0 Queens Park Rangers – 1985 World Cup

In the quarter final of champion's league of 2015 Bayern Munich was one of the favourite teams in the league. Portuguese side took the lead by 3-1 in the first leg. But Pep Guardiola’s Bayer delivered one of the finest performance of his career and win the second league by 6-1. Bayern made a remarkable comeback which will be said well in front in the course of history.

9. Bayer Leverkusen 3-3 Espanyol – 1988 UEFA Final

The UEFA world cup has always witnessed some of the finest comebacks in the history of football. The best example of this was seen in the world cup of 1985. Queens Park Rangers took a lead of 6-2 in the first leg the score was something they have always desired but, Belgrade secured their place in the semis as they managed to win the quarterfinal by scoring 4-0.

10. Manchester United 2-1 Bayern Munich – 1999 Champions League Final

The final of UEFA cup in 1988 shows one of the incredible comebacks, which was mounted by Leverkusen and made some real history. Espanyol took the lead by 3-0 in the first leg and almost had the cup in the bag, but the Leverkusen scored three goals in the second half and took the game to penalty and won the cup. A thrilling encounter which one hearts of millions!

Last but not the least, the champion league final of 1999 was one of the worth remembering matches because of the huge comeback. The Munich tried their best and dominated the United from minute 1 to 89th. But United as they are known, turned the game in their favour by keeping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Teddy Sheringham on target in the final few minutes and scored two goals back to back. United made the match memorable by their great comeback in the final few minutes or shall I say seconds of the injury time.
